The WOSO secondary school opened February 2, 2015 in Katovu, Lwengo District. In the first year
of operation, the school will serve 100 senior one and senior two students, and it will expand in
subsequent years to provide a complete quality secondary education for children in the district.
This school was built from bricks that were made from the dirt of the anthills on the school property. The guardians of the children in the WOSO school sponsorship program took down these anthills and community members were hired to make the bricks and construct the school. Community support and involvement in this project has been ongoing from the projects beginning, including donation of labor to clear the land, donations of bags of cement, food for the workers, windows and doors, transport for materials, and assistance with student registration and school certification. There have also been numerous donations from supporters throughout Uganda and the US.
Thanks to everyone who helped to make this dream a reality!!
