WOSO has initiatied several programs to assist orphans and their guardians to meet basic health and sanitatin needs. All children in the program are tested for HIV/AIDS and are wormed, and all families in the WOSO program receive education and assistance on maintaining a health clean compound, with such things, as pit latrines, drying racks, compost pits, bed nets, and a supply of casava on hand. All of the materials for the "model home" program are locally available and can be constructed by guardians and neighbors. These healthy, clean home compounds benefit all of the children in the family and serve as a model for other community members. WOSO also provides nutritious meals for each child at school, every child in the program received a large blanket for Christmas last year, which the children will be able to use throughout primary and secondary school.
